About Sophie's Soaps at MiniHoovesFarm

Goat milk soap made with carefully selected ingredients, starting with fresh goat milk from our herd of mini goats.

How it all started...

It all started with too much goat milk. In 2015, we bought a herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats, and before long, our fridge was overflowing with milk—far more than we could ever drink. So, I took a one-on-one “Cold Process Goat Milk Soap” class, and instantly fell in love with soap making. At first, working with lye (Sodium Hydroxide) was intimidating, but after about six months, I overcame that fear and made my first solo batch. I dove into articles, blogs, videos, and marketing classes, and soon I was selling at farmers’ markets and craft fairs. Over the years, I’ve refined my craft, now creating both all-natural soaps and fun, colorful, fragranced varieties. I use plenty of calendula-infused oils in everything from soaps and lotions to my current line of salves. All my soaps are made with goat milk from my herd of Nigerian Dwarf, Mini-Nubian, and Mini-LaMancha goats, which means there’s a lot of work just to get the milk into the house and frozen before it ever becomes soap or lotion. That’s why it’s not just “Sophie’s Soaps,” but “Sophie’s Soaps at Mini-Hooves Farm.”
